Transactions as Hub or Link?

0 votes
I've seen one other question along these lines, but it had no definitive answers.  I have a contractor working on our model who is familiar with DV1.0 and feels strongly that transactions are Links.  I took the class at Genesee Academy over a year ago where the point was made that transactions should be their own Hubs.  So far it feels like it's just a personal preference thing.  Can anyone give me a reason why one or the other is 'more right'?

Thanks all!

Hi joelwittenmyer,
as described in the example(s) of chapter 14 in Dans/Michaels Book (Building a Scalable
Data Warehouse with Data Vault 2.0) Hubs and its Satellites are normally the source for Dimensions and Links the basis for Facts.
Additional infos for filling scd2 dimensions are in this question/answer:
http://answers.datavault.guru/4872/type-2-dimension-via-data-vault

And a transaction is normally a Fact without its own (business) primary key . Just like a Link: referencing all needed Hubs(Dimensions) and containing measurements, metrics or facts...
